The Travelers Companies Inc. announced that the 2017Travelers Championship generated more than $1.6 million forcharity. The tournament provides 100% of its net proceeds tononprofits throughout New England and will help support more than160 organizations this year, including the primary beneficiary,TheHole in the Wall Gang Camp. Founded in 1988 by Paul Newman, TheHole in the Wall Gang Camp provides a camp experience for childrenfacing serious illnesses.

The tournament will also be making a donation to the Jay S.Fishman Fund at the Bruce Edwards Foundation for ALS Research. Thefund was established in memory of Jay Fishman, the former chairmanand CEO of Travelers.

“Giving back will always be the most important part of theTravelers Championship, and we couldn’t be more proud of what thetournament does for so many important charities and the localeconomy,” said Alan Schnitzer, CEO of Travelers.

Several other events throughout the week helped contribute tothe tournament’s charitable efforts, such as the Liberty BankConcert Series. A number of celebrities also appeared at thetournament, such as Tory Burch, Christopher Jackson of “Hamilton”fame, and former Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield, among others.

The Travelers Championship has generated more than $14.5 millionfor more than 600 local charities since Travelers became titlesponsor in 2007.
