Gen Z drivers had both the highest incident rate and accident rate from January 1 through November 20, 2023, according to a LendingTree study. This age group had 49.07 incidents — which includes accidents, DUIs, speeding and citations — per 1,000 drivers during this period. That is nearly twice the rate of Millennials, who had the second-highest number of incidents, with 25.13 per 1,000 drivers.
When looking specifically at accidents, Gen Z drivers were involved in 30.25 accidents per 1,000 drivers. This is significantly higher than all of the older generations, as Millennials had 14.22 accidents per 1,000 drivers, the Silent Generation had 14.03, Baby Boomers had 12.64 and Gen X had 11.96.
