In any team sport, coaches have their own coaching philosophies. In many cases, the players need to possess or develop a specific skill set to succeed under their coach's game plan. But when a team is struggling and something needs to change, should you change the players or the game plan?

If players have skills that don't align with the philosophy, then should the coach adjust his or her approach to align with the skill sets on hand or force the players to adapt to the coaching scheme? If I knew that answer, you'd be reading this on ESPN right now.

When it comes to claims teams, however, there are some clear-cut ways to guide team members to success. Whereas baseball-team managers can't coach a player to be taller, stronger and faster, business leaders can guide their teams to grow as professionals.
