A record number of Americans are expected to travel over Memorial Day weekend, according to projections from AAA.

Between Thursday and Monday, about 45.1 million Americans are expected to travel at least 50 miles from home. That’s up 1.4 million over last year and would set a new record. The previous record was set back in 2005 with 44 million people.

Most people will be driving to get to their destination. About 39 million people — or 87% of travelers — are planning to take road trips.
