Georgia's Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner is getting a new tool to combat insurance fraud with the launch of a portal that collects reports of suspected fraud, the state's insurance department reported.

In addition to insurance fraud, the portal also collects reports on indemnity theft, criminal acts by public adjusters and theft by conversion, which the department defines as "theft of money and/or materials that were intended to pay for insurance premiums, contractor work, etc. related to an insurance policy and/or claim." In instances where the suspect is unknown, the agency urges people to call them directly
