Alera Group acquired IHS Insurance Group, an independent insurance brokerage that sells Medicare plans, health insurance, life insurance, auto, home, dental & vision and more.

Alera Group also purchased McSherry & Hudson Insurance Services, an independent, full-service insurance brokerage firm offering property and casualty, industry-specific risk management, surety, loss control, claims and employee benefits.

XPT named Tom Mansfield as senior vice president. He will be leading this collaborative practice group giving clients unique access to a broad range of carriers and programs leading to a wider, more comprehensive range of solutions.

NFP acquired Foster Park Brokers Inc., a Western Canada independent insurance brokerage. This is a major step in NFP’s efforts to significantly expand its presence in Western Canada. Foster Park has 135 employees across four offices which provide commercial and individual solutions in P&C insurance, life and group benefits, private client services, and bonding and surety to clients across Western Canada.

Topa Insurance Group announced a new proprietary and exclusive commercial property program with FTP of California. Available in several states nationwide, the program offers monoline property on a primary and full-limit basis. The program focuses on risks with values up to $50 million.

Wood Brothers Insurance joined Valley Insurance Agency Alliance, a family of nearly 150 independent insurance agencies in Missouri and Illinois. Licensed insurance agent Cassie Tanner, who has five years of insurance industry experience and more than 20 years of customer service background, recently joined Wood Brothers Insurance to handle the insurance needs of the sister company’s home buyers and real estate investors.

Fleet Response celebrated the opening of its new headquarters. Fleet Response HQ, located in Hudson, Ohio, will accommodate the company’s growing staff and provide a range of services including auto, property and general liability claims management as well as subrogation services.

Argo Group International Holdings, Ltd. sold the renewal rights of its U.S. specialty property business to Westfield Insurance. As a part of the transaction, several members of Argo’s U.S. specialty property team will have the option to join Westfield and continue to serve this market. This transaction includes Argo’s shared and layered property business, which underwrites catastrophic-focused E&S property coverage through select wholesale brokers. Argo’s small to medium enterprise property policies are not included in this transaction. Argo will continue to honor and service all policies currently in force.

USI Insurance Services acquired Bellevue, Washington-based Griffin MacLean Insurance Brokers. Founded in 1981, Griffin MacLean is an independent insurance brokerage operation serving businesses and individuals throughout Washington and Alaska. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Canopius Group is partnering Samsung Fire and Marine Insurance, its substantial minority shareholder and business partner, to underwrite U.S. admitted business on its highly rated A++ paper. This agreement marks the most significant business cooperation to date between the two parties as they seek to develop opportunities in partnership across the globe.

Marguerite Dixen established Adroit General Agency, a managing general agency providing workers’ compensation insurance along with a full range of technology-driven safety, loss prevention and claims management solutions for employers vulnerable to high-severity losses.

Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation sold out its 15th Anniversary IICF Northeast Division Annual Benefit Event, which helps facilitate community grants in the New York tri-state region. Held virtually last year in line with pandemic protocols, IICF is excited to host this annual charitable gala and dinner, returning to an in-person event on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City.

Claimatic announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted a patent for the company’s intelligent decisioning software that automatically triages, routes and assigns thousands of claims in seconds. Patent No. 11,151,658 is the first patented claims triage and assignment technology capable of leveraging real-time, dynamic geo-location of field resources, according to the company.
