Consumers of mass-produced products are accustomed to seeing guidance on packaging and instruction manuals. But where are the users' guides to insurance policies?
Features of standard policies are sometimes highlighted on carriers' websites, or in promotional literature that aid agents and brokers in explaining their policies' benefits to applicants. But you rarely see a users' guide in the same large envelope with the policy itself. The task of educating the insurance consumer is thus left primarily to the agent or broker.
