Travelers is suing Legal & General Group PLC of London andits affiliates over the use of a multicolored umbrella that theinsurer says is too similar to its own iconic red umbrella logo,according to a story that appears in the HartfordCourant.
|Legal & General trades in the U.S. under the Banner Life andWilliam Penn Life brands, which have used the multicolored umbrellalogo since 2011, the article states.
|According to the suit, Travelers says that although theumbrellas are different colors, Legal & General's use of thelogo “is extremely likely to dilute the famous Travelers umbrellamark, thus severely harming Travelers.”
|The suit says Legal & General reportedlyclaims to have a letter dating back to 1999 giving it permission touse the umbrella insignia. Travelers wants the court to declare theletter invalid, reports the Hartford Courant..
