Yesterday Gov. Chris Christie relayed some encouraging news forthe approximately 2,100 New Jersey homeowners still on waitinglists for two key grants to rebuild after Hurricane Sandy: a majorreallocation of federal dollars.
|The state has proposed to reallocate $110 million in grant moneyreserved for business recovery loans to the Reconstruction,Rehabilitation, Elevation and Mitigation (RREM) program, as well as$35 million to the Resettlement Program, according to the revision.Among its other aims, the program will ideally help communitiescontinue to identify and demolish unsafe buildings that weredamaged during Sandy, as well as remove the debris.
