Driving successful claims outcomes begins with a solid educationin the fundamentals. To this end, The Institutes has developed twonew courses to equip claims professionals with the knowledge tofacilitate accurate, timely, and efficient handling of catastropheand workers' compensation claims.

The first course, Catastrophe Claim Fundamentals, is aself-study online offering that provides an overview of scopinglosses stemming from catastrophic events. The second course,Workers Compensation Claim Practices, underscores policies andstandards within the workers' compensation system, along withtechniques to investigate coverage and medical issues.

The workers' comp course is available in print or in theself-study online format. As the newest track in the Associate inClaims (AIC) program, the workers' compensation course will equipparticipants with an understanding of practices, medical benefitsand the nature of such claims to drive results in a complexenvironment.

The following courses are required to earn the AIC designationthrough the Workers Compensation Track:

  • AINS 21—Property and Liability Insurance Principles
  • AIC 30—Claim Handling Principles and Practices
  • AIC 37—Managing Bodily Injury Claims
  • AIC 44—Workers Compensation Claim Practices (new course)
  • Ethics 311—Ethical Guidelines for Insurance Professionals orEthics 312—Ethics and the CPCU Code of Professional Conduct

Catastrophe Claim Fundamentals is available for purchase now.Course materials for Workers Compensation Claim Practices areavailable for purchase now, with exams beginning in January2013.
