The two incumbent insurance regulators who were up for election have been returned to office.

The squeaker in North Dakota between Republican incumbent Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm and Democrat Jasper Schneider, went to Mr. Hamm with 50.3 percent of the vote.

Initially, Mr. Schneider had indicated that he would seek a recount, but a spokesperson for Friends of Schneider said that a decision had been made not to take such action.

In Washington, Democratic incumbent Commissioner Mark Kreidler was returned to office.

Among other races for the insurance regulator's position, Montana's election for the open post of state auditor and commissioner of insurance and securities insurance, vacated by John Morrison because of term limits, was won by Monica Lindeen, D, with 53 percent of the vote against Republican Duane Grimes.

On the insurance lawmaker front, Rhode Island State Rep. Brian Kennedy, D-Hopkinton, the president of the National Conference of Insurance Legislators, kept his seat in the legislature defeating Republican Nancy Richmond. Kennedy won 72.1 percent of the vote.

New York State Sen. James Seward, R/C-Oneonta, and NCOIL president-elect defeated Democratic hopeful Don Barber. Seward received 68 percent of the vote.
