Distracted-driving fatalities have remained above 3,000 annually since 2020, according to a recent article published by personal injury law firm Levine and Wiss, which draws on research from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and AAA Foundation. In 2024 alone, distraction contributed to 2,955 fatal crashes — 8% of all fatal crashes nationwide — and the estimated economic cost approached $100 billion.
