And actress Patty Duke said that settling in a small town was tantamount to a childhood dream come true. Here's another reason that small town life may be appealing: An analysis of 2020 FBI crime data by location reveals the 10 safest cities in the United States are relatively tiny municipalities with comparatively few residents. In fact, all 10 of "safest cities in America" showcased in the slideshow above have a combined population of 92,000 residents. This analysis of the country's safest cities was recently completed by CCTV Camera World, a security-system retailer. Crime in the U.S. costs an estimated $2.6 trillion a year, according to the Cambridge University Press. The most common property crimes that can result in insurances claim are burglary, larceny, theft, arson and vandalism. CCTV Camera World recommends the following steps to keep people as well as insured properties safe from crime:
