While most respondents are planning to stay put in 2020 — 58% say they are not likely to look for a new job — millennials appear to be on the move and are more likely to seek new employment. Of those likely to look for a new job in 2020, 24% are planning on starting their job hunt in the first three months of the year. Here are some additional key takeaways from Monster's 2020 State of the Candidate Report:

For those who are planning to stay put, the top two things they hope to achieve at their current job in 2020 include getting a raise (69%) and learned new skills (42%).
Most of the respondents feel secure in their current job, but a looming recession could threaten that security. Three in five respondents are worried about the current state of the economy and 35% believe their job would be at stake if the U.S. were to experience a recession.
Millennials are more likely than Gen Xers and boomers to be worried about the current state of the economy and more likely to believe their job would be at stake if the country were to experience a recession. According to the respondents, the top three reasons they started their last job search was due to higher salary, benefits, job dissatisfaction and flexibility/lifestyle.
When considering a job offer, respondents say salary (73%) is their number one consideration, followed by time off/vacation days (39%), flexible work hours (34%), retirement benefits (33%) and company perks/benefits (33%). Fifty-four percent say they've changed jobs solely because the one they had wasn't paying enough.
Forty-three percent of respondents say they have taken a second job to fill the gap in salary. Millennials (52%) are more likely to have a second job in order to fill the gap compared to Gen Xers (41%) or boomers (31%). Minorities (47%) are more likely to say they have taken a second job to fill the gap compared to non-minorities (40%).
Females are more likely than males to hope to get a raise at their current job in 2020 (72% versus 65%), likely because they feel they aren't being paid fairly — likely because only 58% of female respondents say they are being paid fairly compared to males (70%).
