London this week has been warmer than parts of the Middle East as an influx of warm Saharan air caused record winter temperatures in Britain.
|Temperatures more than double the seasonal average
A high of 21.2 degrees Celsius (70 degrees Fahrenheit) was recorded in southwest London on Tuesday, the highest in winter months since the country started recording weather systematically in the mid-nineteenth century. It's a temperature normally associated with a pleasant summer's day in the U.K. and more than double the seasonal average.
