(Bloomberg) – Delta Air Lines Inc. canceled 375 flights at its Atlanta hub, the world's busiest airport, amid a winter storm expected to drop as many as four inches of snow on the city.

The airline warned travelers that more flights may be canceled and others will be delayed as it makes sure that ice is removed from aircraft. Atlanta, where the carrier is based, is under a winter storm warning until 10 a.m. local time Saturday, the National Weather Service said.

511 total flights canceled by midday

Airlines had canceled at least 511 flights into, out of, or within the U.S. by about midday Friday, according to FlightAware.com, an online tracking service. The most grounded flights and delays were reported at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Unusually wintry weather blanketed the U.S. South from Alabama to parts of Texas, with Corpus Christi, Texas, getting more than 4 inches of snow, according to Accuweather.
