Homeowners: if you have a basement, you have an increased risk for flood.
According to a new infographic from Chubb, all 50 U.S. states have experienced floods or flash floods in the last five years. Events like these — especially as mounds of winter snow melt in the spring — can cause flooding on below-ground levels of homes.
Basement floods are a pain to clean, and can cause expensive damage to possessions and homes. According to Chubb, the National Flood Insurance Program has paid more than $48.1 billion for flood insurance claims and related costs since 1978.
