General Motors made a splash in mid August when it announced a new “valet mode” feature for the 2015 Corvette designed to protect the car while the owner is away. Not only would the system lock down the interior storage areas and disable the infotainment system, it would even record audio, video and vehicle data (such as speed and engine RPM) while enabled, preventing any nonesense from joyriding valets.

At least that was the plan.
