Malaysia Airlines has begun giving out $50,000 in advance insurance payments to the families of the 239 people aboard missing Flight 370, reports ABC News. Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister Hamzah Zainuddin says full payout will come after the plane is found or officially declared lost.
ABC News reports thats many Chinese relatives have indicated they will reject the initial payout. According to Steve Wang, a spokesperson for some of the relatives, the families of 127 Chinese passengers will reject the payment in part because they think Malaysia Airlines should provide economic assistance while the search continues.
Zainuddin says six Malaysian and one Chinese family had so far received payment.
