Travelers and The Hartford took top honors among the insurers recognized in Compuware's fifth annual “Best of the Web” awards, bestowed upon top-performing web and mobile sites.

The IT performance company selects the winners based on performance excellence in several criteria, including average response time, availability and consistency of the sites throughout the entire year. Companies are recognized across five major industries: banking, brokerage, insurance, retail and travel.

Travelers received the gold medal for the best mobile website in the auto and property insurance industry.

“Our customers, agents and employees expect an integrated experience across all aspects of their relationship with us when using mobile technologies,” Madelyn Lankton, Travelers executive vice president and chief information officer. “Travelers is committed to creating a high-quality user experience, and this recognition from Compuware further validates the investments we have been making to deliver new and enhanced mobile experiences.”

Also noted among top performers in auto and property were Liberty Mutual and Geico, which earned silver and bronze honors, respectively.

The Hartford received “The Last Mile” gold award for its web site from Compuware, indicating the carrier exhibited the best combined performance in 2013 measured from the Compuware Last Mile network. The criteria here include average response time, average availability and average consistency.
