The Massachusetts Division of Insurance says insurers have paidabout $1.18 million in losses related to the Boston Marathonbombings in April.

According to data collected thus far from DOI, a total of 207insurance claims have been filed and 84 have been closed withpayment. Nearly as many, 76, were closed without payment.Forty-seven remain open.

Claims filed as of July 26 include those in Boston as well assurrounding communities such as of Watertown and Cambridge, DOIexplains. The state's 25 top insurers and its last-resort insurerare included in this preliminary report. A final report is due nextyear.

Insurers have paid $753,950 on business interruption claims—thetype of claim most filed. Fifty of the 132 totalbusiness-interruption claims have been closed with payment. Another60 are closed without payment.

Continuing to dissect the claims thus far, 35 residential and 27commercial property claims have been filed. Just five of thecommercial property claims were closed with payment. A total of$253,934 has been paid by insurers on commercial property claims.About $86,800 has been paid on the 20 closed residential propertyclaims closed with payment.

DOI says there are 170 impacted members of insured andself-insured healthcare accounts affected by the blast betweenApril 15 and April 19. Projected healthcare costs for services tobe provided through April 19, 2014 are $22.85million.

One workers' compensation claim was filed and closed, for $257,according to the data collected by DOI.
