Willis Group Holdings announced the new leadership team for its Aerospace business in the Americas. Steve Kisor was appointed as president of Willis Aerospace in the Americas and John Rooley will serve as CEO. Neil Getter, as EVP of Willis Aerospace Americas, will join the team as well as Philip Smaje, CEO of Willis Global Aerospace in London.

SterlingRisk named Michael Thomson vice president of employee benefits for the Utah division of SterlingRisk Insurance Services. Thomson brings more than 20 years of employee benefits insurance experience to SterlingRisk.

Lockton named Chip Manozzi and Eva Durkin as senior vice presidents in their Boston offices as part of their expansion in the Northeast.

George I. Connolly, senior vice president of Wealth Management Group, Securian Financial Group Inc., was elected to The American College’s board of trustees.

David M. Howard was elected to the Disabled Veterans Insurance Careers’ strategic board. Howard is a former U.S. Army captain and serves as COO at AmRisk LP.

New Programs

NationAir Aviation Insurance announced its new division, the Public Entity Group, which will specifically serve government clients. The new division will be led by NationAir senior vice president Tom Kasier.

The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research awarded the National Outstanding CSR of the Year award to a group of insurance customer service representatives who were selected upon the submission of an essay and demonstrated commendable achievements in their services to their agencies, industry, and community. Guy Carpenter & Co. LLC announced Joan Lamm-Tennant was named Insurance Woman of the Year 2013 by the Assn. of Professional Insurance Women.

Mergers & Acquisitions

Sterling James and The Miles Partnership announced the joining of their practices. The merger will allow for Sterling James to create a global platform, gaining offices in New York, London, Chicago, and Dubai.

The Travelers Cos. Inc. agreed to acquire The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Co. from E-L Financial Corp. Ltd. for approximately $1.1 billion in cash. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2013. The combined organization will remain headquartered in Toronto, and Brigid Murphy, president and CEO of The Dominion will continue her roles after the acquisition takes place. George Petropoulos, president and CEO of Travelers Canada, will become vice chairman and executive vice president, bond and financial products.

Chochrane & Co. acquired Prowest Insurance Services Inc. Prowest’s name and operations will remain unchanged, operating as a new division of Chochrane & Co.

Technology

Business unit of The Institute, CEU.com, launched a new website and a continuing education tracking tool. CE Navigator serves to increase productivity, reduce filing costs and save time.
