Elliott Jones, managing director of Aon Risk Solutions' Chicago location, wasappointed president of the National African American InsuranceAssn.'s Chicago chapter. Jones will serve as president through2013.

Sedgwick named Darrell Brown as thecompany's chief performance officer. In this position, Brownwill develop and oversee the measurement of quality and performanceprograms, processes and systems. Brown joined Sedgwick in 2001 asan assistant claims manager and served as area manager of thesouthern California region. Brown is based at Sedgwick's office inLong Beach, Calif.

Digital Insurance, an employee benefits-only agency,appointed Carl Pilger as the in-house legalcounsel. As vice president, legal counsel, he will managebenefits-related legal matters, education, compliance andhealthcare reform initiatives. In the past, Pilger has worked in avariety of legal and consulting positions.

Mike Scyphers has been promoted to chiefinformation officer at Markel. Scyphers previously served as technology leadfor Markel Wholesale.

Mergers & Acquisitions

Digital Insurance acquired the GroupBrokerage Insurance Agency of Cambridge, Mass. The employeebenefits-only firm now operates under the name of DigitalBenefit Advisors, a division of Digital Insurance. It is thecompany's first office in the Boston area.

New Programs

Alexander J.Wayne & Assocs. introduced Triple Net Lease insurance. Thisprogram covers the loss of rent resulting from a physical loss ofthe property, and is aimed at landlords renting to largecommercial tenants.

MSO expanded its specialty businessownersprograms to include funeral directors and drycleaners. Coverage also is available for bed and breakfasts,restaurants, self storage, landlords, condominium owners and homebusinesses.
