Brown & Brown welcomed Laurel L. Grammig, vice president and corporate secretary, to a newly created position of chief compliance and regulatory officer. She has served with the company since 1994. Mark E. King has been promoted to chief litigation counsel after holding the positions of senior litigation counsel and assistant general counsel. Kathy Colangelo was elected regional vice president of the company. She joined in 1997 and currently serves as a director of the Florida Surplus Lines Assn.

Mark Wilson joined JLT Specialty as account executive of its Nottingham Risk Practice. He has more than 20 years of industry experience, including 6 years as a loss adjuster, and will manage client relationships and new client portfolios in his new position. JLT also appointed Paul Thyer as partner and member of the Non-Mareine Treaty team. He has 32 years of experience within the reinsurance industry.

Willis North America appointed Bill Gilliam senior vice president of its Texas branch construction practice. He brings 9 years of experience in the construction and insurance industries to the role. Willis also brought on Mike Walsh as client advocate, Willis of Maryland. He will be responsible for developing and expanding Willis' footprint across the D.C. metro region.

Jason F. Ernest was promoted to deputy CEO and counsel with Insurance Agents & Brokers (IA&B). While at IA&B, he successfully represented the interests of independent agents before the Insurance Dept. and the Commonwealth Court.

Guy Carpenter & Co. announced the appointments of Paul Rayner and Andrew Beecroft as managing directors of GC Securities. Both Rayner and Beecroft will be based in London and bring corporate finance and insurance knowledge to the team from their previous experiences as senior members of Aon Benfield Securities.

Mike Foley, senior vice president and shareholder at Holmes Murphy & Associates, was named board member. During his 25 year with Holmes, Foley contributed to the success of the company's Employee Benefits division.

OneBeacon Technology Insurance chose James Keenan to fill the position of assistant vice president--medical technology. He will be accountable for underwriting, western region referals and MedTech business development.

Mergers & Acquisitions

Marsh & McLennan announced two acquisitions as part of its ongoing expansion initiative: Liscomb Hood Mason Co. is based in Duluth, Minn. and offers property-casualty and employee benefits products to businesses and individuals state-wide. McGraw Wentworth, Inc. is an employee group benefits consulting and brokerage firm headquartered in Troy, Mich. with annual revenues of approximately $15 million.
