Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. says John “Jack” Kuhn has been named CEO of Global Insurance.

Kuhn will join Endurance, a Bermuda-based specialty provider of property and casualty insurance and reinsurance, next week. He will be responsible for Endurance’s U.S., Bermuda and International insurance operations. He will be based in Endurance’s Bermuda office, where his appointment is subject to approval by the Bermuda Department of Immigration.

During his 26-year career in the insurance business, Kuhn has served in multiple senior underwriting and management roles and he has built and led successful specialty insurance operations in the U.S. and internationally. Most recently he was chief underwriting officer at Axis Insurance, where he was responsible for the worldwide insurance operations and. Prior to that, Kuhn was CEO of the North American Division at Axis Insurance.

Kuhn joined Axis Capital in 2003 when the company acquired Kemper Insurance’s Financial Insurance Solutions business, which Kuhn had built as president of that business unit. Kuhn started his insurance career at Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, where he assumed increasing responsibility, culminating in the role of CUO for Chubb/Executive Protection.
