Dan Riordan, an employee of Zurich since 1997, has been promoted to chief executive officer of the company's Global Corporate in North America business.

Riordan first joined Zurich to lead the policical risk and trade credit business in Washington D.C. The Switzerland-based insurance group says it is now the leading provider of political risk and medium-term credit insurance in the global marketplace.

In 2008, the surety unit was added to the Political Risk and Trade Credit business and Riordan was named head of that unit. Most recently he was president of North America Commercial's specialty products business unit.
