NIP Group names group president/COO: NIP Group promoted Dave Springer to group president and chief operating officer. Springer will aid in NIP specialty insurance expansion. Prior to joining NIP, he held senior executive positions with AmTrust Financial Services and Prudential Insurance Co.

Big I issues 3 agent awards: The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (Big I) named the following award winners at the 2012 Big I Legislative Conference and Convention, April 25-27:

Clay Jackson of BB&T Insurance Services in Nashville, Tenn., received the Sidney O. Smith Award. The award is given annually by the Big I and the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia to an agent or broker working in the field of government affairs with outstanding service.
Forrest "Brick" Schnobrich of Iowa received the 2011 Barney Burns Award. It is presented to an insurance professional who makes a great contribution to InsurPac. Under Schnobrich's leadership, Iowa increased its contribution to InsurPac by more than 30 percent.
The New Hampshire Assn. of Insurance Agents received the 2011 Herndon Award, which is given to the state association whose legislative achievements for the previous year have been deemed most valuable.

Forethought buys The Hartford's individual annuities capabilities: Houston-based financial services company, Forethought, is set to purchase The Hartford's individual annuity and new business capabilities, according to a recent agreement between the two companies. This consists of product management, distribution and marketing units, as well as the suite of products currently being sold. Most of The Hartford's individual annuity employees will be offered positions with Forethought, according to a press release. As a part of the agreement, The Hartford will still write new annuity products during a transaction period. Further agreement terms have not been disclosed.

Willis Re introduces personal auto vehicle module: Willis Re, the reinsurance brokerage arm of Willis Group Holdings, announced the addition of ISO Risk Analyzer Personal Auto Vehicle Module to its existing joint marketing relationship with ISO—a member of the Verisk Insurance Solutions group at Verisk Analytics. ISO Risk Analyzer is a suite of predictive models that help insurers classify, segment and price risks. The Personal Auto Vehicle Module can use vehicle characteristics to predict collision and comprehensive losses at a highly granular level. Willis Re will offer select clients the ability to license this module, effective immediately.

It is an expansion of the company's bond & financial products technology platform, dedicated to simplifying the online process of purchasing and issuing commercial surety bonds. Significant features of Travelers Click include simplified navigation, smarter technology, faster execution and an ever-evolving platform.
