Perils, an organization that provides catastrophe-insurancedata, says it will begin collecting data on inland flooding in theUnited Kingdom.

Perils says it will begin collecting loss data on Jan. 1, 2012for inland-flood events that result in losses of €200 million ormore. The data will be made available on April 1.

|

Luzi Hitz, CEO of Perils, says, “We are grateful for the supportof the U.K. primary insurance industry in making this happen andtake it as further encouragement to continue to broaden ourcoverage, both in terms of geography and perils.”

Perils collects loss data from primary insurers across Europe,enabling the organization to produce estimates of market exposureand market loss portfolios.
