Promotion at Barclay: The Barclay Group, an independent insurance agency, promoted Roger Butler to vice president. Butler joined Barclay in July 2001 as a producer and has worked in the insurance industry since 1993.

Travelers hires new president: The Travelers Companies Inc appointed Raymond T. Martino as the president of its ocean marine business unit. Travelers ocean marine provides specialized property and liability insurance products for maritime-oriented risks. Martino will be responsible for the overall leadership and managment of the ocean marine unit and has more than 30 years' experience in the industry.

Mark Sonders joins Vertafore: Vertafore, a leading provider of insurance distribution channel solutions, announced that Mark Sonders  joined the company as senior vice president of sales and client services. Sonders will lead carrier and mga sales and service organization with responsiblilty for sales, account managment, marketing and professional services and client support.

New hire at Swett & Crawford: Harold Field joined Swett and Crawford to take on leadership and profit responsibilty of the wholesale broker's New York City office. Field also will continue serving as sales leader and broker in the professional services practice group at the Morristown, N.J., office. He brings nearly 15 years of insurance industry experience.

Mergers and Acquisitions

Arthur J. Gallagher procures Robinson-Adams: Arthur J. Gallagher and Co. acquired the insurance brokerage operations of Robinson-Adams Insurance Inc. The automotive-related businesses affiliated with the company are not involved in the acquisition and will continue to run independently.

New Policies

Crum and Forster launch new service: Crum and Forster offers a new service that will help policyholders to manage and protect against cyber risk. This service also provides eRisk Hub—a web-based portal that contains information and technical resources to aid in the prevention of network, cyber and privacy losses and support them in timely reporting and recovery losses.
