Jane Cline, the 2010 president of the National Association ofInsurance Commissioners, will be retiring from her post as WestVirginia insurance commissioner June 30.

|

Cline has been working in West Virginia state government for 30years and has been the top West Virginia insurance regulator since2001.

|

The current West Virginia governor, Earl Ray Tomblin, aDemocrat, says Cline has "repeatedly demonstrated her skills as amanager, professional leader and independent problem-solver…Shedeserves high praise, gratitude and accolades for her long anddedicated service to the people of West Virginia."

Cline, who was first appointed to the commissioner's post byanother Democratic governor, Bob Wise, put out a statementexpressing appreciation for the support she has received fromTomblin.

"I am looking forward to spending more time with my family andpursuing other interests," she says.

"A replacement will be named in the future," state officialssay.

|

In West Virginia, Cline helped lead efforts to privatize theWest Virginia worker's compensation system, improve the medicalmalpractice system, and create a state-run, high-risk healthinsurance pool for low-income residents with health problems.

|

At the NAIC, Kansas City, Mo., Cline managed the group'sresponse to the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Actand the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer ProtectionAct.

|

Cline also has been chair of the management committee at theNAIC's Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission.

|

Cline could not immediately be reached to comment on her futureplans.
