As this look-ahead to summer is written, Floridians are still getting to know their new governor, Cabinet members, and legislators. We are recovering from the oil spill in the Gulf that impacted our coastal economy. The natural disasters across an ocean have made us mindful of the potential for hurricanes, sinkholes, lightening and flooding here at home. Far too many of us are unemployed, and we continue to battle waves of housing foreclosures. What's a hard-working insurance professional to do?

Today, perhaps more than ever, agents need opportunities to seek and give peer support, get current on critical technology, learn, network, study, and be in the presence of those who understand the Florida landscape. For added comfort, meeting at some of the state's leading luxury, leisure, and fun venues can help soothe battered psyches.

As we surveyed the industry groups, interesting themes and phrases emerged: "Learning in Luxury." "Sand-sational time."  "Registration is 10 percent ahead of this time last year." "We are rebounding from the recession and our attendance is expected to be a 4-5 year high."
