The benchmark rate for workers compensation won't increase anytime soon after California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner refused to increase the rate for a third time.
The commissioner issued his announcement today, saying that he was rejecting the rate increase submitted on behalf of insurers by the Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau that would amount to an increase of 28 percent in the benchmark.
