The Ohio Insurance Institute (OII) said insured losses from severe weather in September that included 11 tornadoes come to more than $17 million.
Ohio experienced 11 tornadoes on Sept. 16, including an EF3 (Enhanced Fujita Scale) near Reedsville in Meigs County and EF2s in Athens, Perry and Wayne counties.
Based on information provided to the OII from 27 property and casualty insurers, about 2,935 claims have been filed--2,227 homeowners; 287 business; and 421 automobile.
