Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty would like to begin surveying the state's insurance companies to get a grasp of one of the largest non-catastrophe cost drivers in Florida: sinkhole claims.

In a previous interview with NU Online News Service, Commissioner McCarty said the sinkhole claims issue has become more serious as frequency increases. Insurance companies are increasingly spending thousands of dollars to handle these types of claims–enough to seriously affect their bottom lines.
