WASHINGTON–Several environmental groups have asked House members to oppose passage of legislation that would provide a federal backup to state catastrophe insurance programs.
The legislation, H.R. 2555, the Homeowners Defense Act (//frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=111_cong_bills&docid=f:h2555ih.txt.pdf), is expected to be taken up by the House when it returns from the Memorial Day recess June 8.
