AgencyPort Offers Market Differentiators
In business for only a decade, AgencyPort is earning high praise from customers and attracting top-tier insurers to its easy-to-use portal solution. AgencyPortal, winner of a RAVE Award in the P&C agency portal category, is a Web-based solution that allows P&C carriers to offer new-business rate, quote, and bind as well as policy servicing and collaborative agent/underwriter workflow.
First deployed by Boston-based AgencyPort in 2002, the portal was rearchitected in early 2009. Version 4.1 was released in April. The portal’s prepackaged content, design, and Toolkit, as well as AgencyPort’s knowledge of systems integration and ACORD standards, help differentiate the solution in the marketplace, according to Mason Power, vice president of product and market strategy. “The software comes with templates built on ACORD standards that can get carriers moving quickly,” he says. “For example, we’re the only independent provider of portals that supports commercial line auto in all 50 states.”
In addition, AgencyPort helps carriers design user-friendly, intuitive Web sites that agents are drawn to. “That makes a big difference in making one carrier easier to do business with than another,” Power asserts. “Higher customer satisfaction translates into more new business and better renewal rates.” The Toolkit, introduced with Version 4.0, provides a Web-based interface that helps carriers’ business analysts or IT staff build and maintain their Web portal applications. Its features enable control over page layout, dynamic field behavior, and underwriting rules. All the data on a carrier’s portal is stored in ACORD XML, which helps simplify systems integration.

Power notes AgencyPort’s experience in ACORD standards is a bonus for carriers. “Our whole data structure is based on the ACORD industry standard,” he says. “We have strong knowledge of how to make it work within a carrier’s specific plumbing.” Founded in 2000, AgencyPort was acquired by Sword Group in late 2009. The company’s clients include small carriers as well as top-tier insurers, according to the solution provider. “Our blue-chip customer list is a big validator of our value proposition and speaks for itself,” Power contends.
