The Surplus Line Association of California (SLA) said Les Rosshas been named its new chairman.

|

Mr. Ross, executive vice president of Crump Insurance ServicesInc., in San Francisco, assumed the chairmanship at SLA's recentlyheld annual meeting.

|

He replaces John Edack who is senior executive vice presidentand chief regional officer of Arch Insurance Group who completeshis one year term.

|

The association also named:

|

o Patrick Hanley vice chairman. He is president of SociusInsurance Services, Inc.

|

o Davis Moore secretary-treasurer. He is president of WorldwideFacilities, Inc.

|

The association also approved the appointment of formerInsurance Commissioner Harry Low for a one year term as SLAmediator. The association said the election of a mediator isrequired by its Constitution to help solve disputes between theadmitted insurance market and the nonadmitted insurance market.

The SLA is an organization of 4,350 California Surplus LineBroker licensees and serves as the official surplus line advisoryorganization to the California Department of Insurance underCalifornia law.
