Competitive Enterprise Institute, the Washington-basedconservative think tank, said it has launched a Web site centeredon government regulation in the insurance industry

The Web site, nicpa.org, will focus on the National InsuranceConsumer Protection Act and the proposed optional federal charterfor insurance companies, CEI said.

|

A considerable Google advertising budget, said CEI, will supportthe site, which will be updated several times a week.

"Our goal is to give the free-market perspective on the idea ofan optional federal charter, while also providing accurate andtimely information on the debate," said CEI policy analyst and siteadministrator Kevin Hilferty.

"We may have a free-market point of view, but we aim toacknowledge both sides of the debate and engage it as best as wecan," added Mr. Hilferty.

Additions to the Web site may feature online debates andinteractive question-and-answer sessions, CEI noted.
