WASHINGTON--American International Group is in talks withfederal regulators about getting an additional cash infusion inorder to stave off a bankruptcy filing, its officials indicatedthis afternoon.

"We continue to work with the Federal Reserve Bank of New Yorkto evaluate potential new alternatives for addressing AIG'sfinancial challenges," said AIG spokesman Peter Tulupman.

Confirming a report on CNBC this afternoon, Mr. Tulupman saidthat AIG has not yet reported fourth quarter and year-end 2008results.
