Zurich Financial Services Group said it has named Geoff Riddell to the new position of chairman of Global Corporate and Mario Vitale Global Corporate chief executive officer.

Mr. Riddell's responsibilities will also expand as he will now oversee operations in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions.

Mr. Vitale was deputy CEO of the division.

The changes will take effect Jan. 1, the company said.

Zurich said the changes are in anticipation of the planned retirement of Patrick O'Sullivan in the spring of 2009 who, in his current role as vice chairman of the Group Management Board and chief growth officer, has been leading the transition of Zurich's international operations.

Additional information concerning Mr. O'Sullivan's retirement will be released early next year, the Zurich, Switzerland-based company said.
