Willis Group Holdings insurance brokerage said it has named Christopher R. Burns as chief executive officer of its Global Employee Benefits Practice.
Mr. Burns, based in New York, is tasked with the strategic growth and operational oversight of the practice, the firm said. He will report to Allan Gribben, Global Sales & Marketing Director.
Willis' Global Employee Benefits Practice spans more than 70 countries and includes a team of over 2,200 Willis Associates.
Mr. Burns was senior vice president of Multinational Employee Benefits at Willis. Prior to joining Willis in 2006, he was a principal at Mercer. Mr. Burns spent more than 12 years in several senior international employee benefit positions with AIG and Cigna, including appointments in Greece, Brazil and London.
Currently, Mr. Burns serves on the board of directors of the National Foreign Trade Council.
