The National Insurance Crime Bureau said it has named James K. Schweitzer as senior vice president and chief operating officer.

Mr. Schweitzer replaces Joe Wehrle, who became president and chief executive officer of the Des Plaines, Ill.-based association when former president and CEO Bob Bryant retired.

The NICB said Mr. Schweitzer is a former director of the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, where he led 1,500 employees charged with enforcing traffic, motor vehicle and motor carrier laws; providing security for public officials and state properties; and administering highway safety and criminal justice grant programs.
