The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of Americaannounced that C. Brett Nilsson was named the new chairman of theassociation, succeeding Robert Fulwider who becomes immediatepast-chairman.

The Alexandria, Va.-based association also named J. David Danielas chairman-elect, J. Michael “Mike” Miley as vice chairman, andThomas Minkler as the new executive committee member.

The inauguration of the officials took place during the IIABA'srecent Leadership Conference in Las Vegas.

Mr. Nilsson is senior vice president for The Buckner Companybased in Ogden, Utah. He was first elected to the IIABA ExecutiveCommittee in 2003 and was named vice president in 2006. He alsoserved on the IIABA's national Communications Committee and itsFinance Committee that he chaired from 1999 to 2003.

He served as president of the Independent Insurance Agents ofUtah from 1992 to 1993 and as the board director from Utah for nineyears.

Mr. Daniel is president of Daniel and Eustis Insurance in BatonRouge, La. He was elected to the IIABA Executive Committee in 2004and also served on the board of directors of the IndependentInsurance Agents of Louisiana for eight years before becomingpresident in 1997.

Mr. Miley is a member of the Gibson Insurance Group of Indiana.He served as president of the Marshall-Fulton-Starke CountiesIndependent Insurance Agents Association. He has served on numerousIndependent Insurance Agents of Indiana committees and as itspresident in 1995.

Mr. Minkler is president of the Clark-Mortenson Agency in Keene,N.H. He is a past chairman of the Independent Insurance Agents andBrokers of New Hampshire, past New Hampshire director on the IIABANational Board and past president of the Massachusetts Associationof Insurance Agents.
