American National Insurance Company said it is returning employees to its home office in Galveston, Texas, after evacuating operations in the wake of Hurricane Ike.

The returning operations included three of its life company subsidiaries: Garden State Life Insurance Company, Standard Life and Accident Insurance Company, and American National Life Insurance Company of Texas.

American National said its property-casualty operations in Springfield, Mo., and Albany, N.Y., continued to operate despite the loss of headquarter operations. Home office operations were moved to League City, Texas, where computer and backup systems operations were housed, and San Antonio, Texas, offices. Affected operations were primarily in its life, annuity and health areas.
