Austin, Texas-based Combined Agents of America, LLC, a managing general agency group, said it has expanded to 37 members with the addition of EFGI Insurance & Bonds, LLC.

Based in San Antonio, Texas, EFGI was formed in 2002 when EFGI purchased the southwest Texas insurance operations from Employers General Insurance Group.

Canez-Gunter Insurance & Benefits merged with EFGI in 2004, expanding the employee benefits side of the agency. The full-service agency said it designs and manages programs for a wide range of clients, but specializes in the oil and gas, construction and transportation industries.

Don Jones, CAA president and president of Crockett Insurance Service in Crockett, Texas, said EFGI is the fourth new member this year, and as CAA grows there are plans “to expand our membership to high-caliber insurance agencies outside [of] Texas.”

Founded in 1997, CAA generated over $387 million in combined property-casualty annual premiums in 2007. It works with 18 of the largest insurance companies in the nation.
