The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America's National Young Agents Committee has honored the North Carolina Young Agents Committee with the Outstanding Young Agents Committee of the Year award.

The annual award was given during this past weekend's 2008 Young Agents Leadership Institute in Las Vegas.

The award was given for the North Carolina's YAC's outstanding efforts in the areas of political involvement, membership development, communications, state committee project and young agents meeting, as well as the committee's promotion of the independent agency system.

This year's runner-up for the award was the Young Agents Council of the Michigan Association of Insurance Agents.

Other awards were:

o Outstanding Political Involvement Award--the Young Agents Committee of the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia Inc.

o Outstanding Young Agents Meeting Award--The Young Brokers and Agents Committee of the Insurance Brokers & Agents of the West.

o Outstanding State Committee Project--The Young Agents Council of the Florida Association of Insurance Agents.

o Outstanding Membership Development Award--The Young Agents Committee of the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana Inc.

o Outstanding Communications Award--The Young Agents Committee of the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana Inc.
