The Professional Insurance Agents of Louisiana said Dale H. Spaht was named president for the 2008-09 term during the organization's 65th annual convention.
Mr. Spaht is the co-owner of Fife-Spaht Insurance Agency in Gonzales, La. He has served on the PIA of Louisiana board of directors since 2001. He most recently chaired the PIA of Louisiana's Governmental Affairs Committee.
The association also announced that:
o Brian Prejean was named president-elect. Mr. Prejean, principal of Rod Prejean & Associates Inc. in Brusly, La., has served on the PIA of Louisiana board of directors since 2005 and the Governmental Affairs chair from 2006-07. He was also the 2005 recipient of PIA of Louisiana's Agent of the Year Award.
o Duane Dimattia was named secretary/treasurer. Mr. Dimattia is principal of Dimattia Insurance Agency Inc. in Baton Rouge, La.. He was elected to the association's board in 2006. He served as chairman of the association's Governmental Affairs Committee from 2007-08 and is the 2008 recipient of the association's Volunteer of the Year Award. He also served on the Young Insurance Professionals of Louisiana board from 2004-06.
o David "Hal" Stiel III will serve as immediate-past president. He is president of David H. Stiel Jr. Insurance in Franklin, La.
