The Malvern, Pa.-based CPCU Society and the Society's Northeastern New York Chapter will host two workshops next month in Albany, N.Y, it was announced.
The “Directors and Officers Liability” and “Closing the Gaps in Property Insurance” programs will be held Sept. 11 at the Desmond Hotel & Conference Center, 660 Albany-Shaker Road.
R. Bryan Tilden, a national lecturer and expert witness in the field of insurance, will present both workshops. CPCU said prior to starting his own firm, Tilden and Associates, Mr. Tilden was the director of technical affairs and director of education for the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina.
The “Directors and Officers Liability” session will deal with the history of the “D&O” exposure, including the impact of form of business entity; legal duties of directors and officers and standards of care; and defenses that may be available to them.
CPCU said the program is designed for insurance professionals and other professionals with at least three years of experience who must protect the interests of their customers.
“Closing the Gaps in Property Insurance” deals with what is and is not covered under a standard property policy; how various policies stack up against each other; and how to avoid costly errors when managing property loss exposures.
The program is designed for professionals who must protect the interests of their own and clients' organizations, including agents, brokers, underwriters, claim professionals, risk managers and attorneys.
Each workshop is approved for four New York State continuing education credits. For CPCU Society members the cost is $155 for one workshop, or $175 for both. For nonmembers, the cost is $165 for one workshop, or $195 for both. Workshop materials, continental breakfast, lunch and refreshments are included.
Registration is available online at www.cpcusociety.org, by clicking on “Professional Development.” For additional assistance, the Society's Member Resource Center is reachable at (800) 932-CPCU, or [email protected].
