Arthur I. Golden has retired as director of the governing boardof the New York Property Insurance Underwriting Association(NYPIUA), which is New York's insurer of last resort for propertyrisks.

Mr. Golden was appointed to NYPIUA's board in 1984, and was thelongest serving board member, according to the association. Duringthat time, he has served on the producer liaison, arson and firesafety, claims, and finance committees.

Mr. Golden founded Golden and Golden Insurance in 1957. He waspast president of the board of directors of the agents' associationProfessional Insurance Agents of New York (PIANY).

PIANY recognized him as producer of the year in 1989 and agentof the year in 1994.

Mr. Golden also served as director on the Council of InsuranceBrokers of Greater New York (CIB), a New York City association foragents and brokers, and director of the New York AutomobileInsurance Plan, the state's residual market for auto risks.Additionally, he was a member of the producer liaison committee forInsurance Services Office (ISO).
