EMC Corp., a provider of information infrastructure solutions, has completed the acquisition of Document Sciences Corp., a document output management and customer communications management software developer. Under terms of the agreement announced in December, EMC acquired Document Sciences in a cash transaction valued at approximately $85.8 million.
The acquisition extends EMC's vision in transactional content management. In addition, this acquisition extends EMC's broader offerings, adding communications services to enhance the company's interactive content management, knowledge worker, and archiving and compliance solutions.
"When we announced our intent to acquire Document Sciences in December, we stressed the deal would further extend our leadership position in both transactional content management and the larger category of enterprise content management," says Mark Lewis, president of the content management and archiving division at EMC. "With the acquisition now complete, we are delivering on this promise."
